surprise  everyone stopped by to celebrate mom  she always makes our birthdays special  we wanted to do the same for her!!!

we missed ty and lani & sams family  next year!!

we all got to visit and eat treats  such a nice night  we should do this more often!!

so today was the worst  it was just a crappy day  so at the end of a crappy day  Ivey and I thought we would make some of grandmas noodles 

not to messy  hahaha  i did make a mess when i poured my eggs into my well of flour im not sure what i was thinking  glad no one but Ivey was watching   it wasnt to bad after that

we had a long day  (the two of us) so glad its almost over

first try  not the best  but not to bad  things to remember  add more salt  boil less stock

  dont over worked

then Cole was sad so we made something yummy  we went full sugar  he was happy!!  holy cow these are good

we made huge cake like cookies  our own creation "big fat red velvet cookies"!!! this part of my day was wonderful  love happy kids  love baking  love eating!!  and love that Nate Teresa and kids flew in tonight!!

grandma's recipe

im always sad that i dont have any of my grandmas recipes  she was a wonderful cook  she could make anything when i think about her i see her standing in her kitchen  always busy   ive asked my dad a few times for any recipes that e might have of hers  but its hard to connect  i remembered an old family reunion cook book and pulled it out the other day  duh  of course i have a few i always pull it out to make her banana bread  so eden and i went and marked all her recipes in the book

this one recipe sounded so yummy ( look at those sweet little hands)

we decided on oatmeal cake 

since im addicted to oatmeal  this is right up my alley  heather you would like this cake oatmeal w butter!! :)

i love old recipes  with a scant of this and a pinch of that  my grandma would get mad at me because i wanted to make pie crust with butter and she said it had to be done with shortening

i wasnt sure what kind of pan or dish to use  so i use a 9x13  figured i couldnt go wrong with that  and the cake turned out beautiful

even better with the frosting   the recipe called for canned milk  so... i really wasnt sure what that meant  i just used skim that i had in the frig  and it was still deelish

oh baby!!  thats my piece and it was soooooo good!!!

this kid loved it too  everyone but eden  even colie loved it  he just picked off the nuts!! im so glad i found grandmas recipes it makes me happy and i feel like i get to share a little bit of her with my kids  next up are her noodles  we'll see how many times it takes to get it right
